Day 1
Overnight flight
to Lima.
|

|
Day 2
Upon
arrival, transfer to your hotel. Afternoon city tour of Lima - always
one of the most important cities in South America since its founding in
1535. Journey through the historic center of the city. Admire the beauty
of San Martín and Major squares, the Cathedral, the Government Palace,
and visit San Francisco Convent, religious building from the late 16th
century, and its catacombs. Also drive through the residential districts
of San Isidro and Miraflores.
Note: check-in is normally
after 2 pm. Early check-in may be granted subject to availability (not
confirmed).

Day 3
Transfer to the
airport to take the flight to Arequipa. Arrival and transfer to your
hotel. City tour including the Catalina Convent, the Plaza de Armas or
Main Square, the Cathedral, the Church of La Compañía and the Colonial
district of Yanahuara. |

Day 4
Departure
early morning by bus, crossing the Salinas and Aguada Blanca National
Reserve, passing by Pampa Ca ńahuas
with a stop at Patapampa, special viewpoint of the Andes situated at
4,800 meters. Lunch at Chivay. Overnight in Colca.

Day 5
Leave the hotel
to explore the town of Yanque and visit its church. Continue to Cruz del
Condor viewpoint to admire the majestic flight of the Andean condors.
Start the return to Arequipa visiting the Andean villages of Yanque,
Achoma, Maca and its church, Pinchollo with stops in Antahuilque—a place
known by its mysterious lagoons, where you can observe the andenes or
cultivation terraces, continue to Choquetico to admire the high burials
and rock maquettes. Lunch on the way. Continue to Arequipa ending at
your hotel.

Day 6
Morning
transfer to the airport, to take the flight to Cusco. Upon arrival in
Cusco, transfer to your hotel. Afternoon city tour of Cusco, visiting
the Korikancha temple or Temple of the Sun, the Cathedral and its art
museum and the artisans’ quarter of San Blas and San Blas church.
Continuing to the nearby water shrine of Tambomachay (the Inca
Fountains), Puca Pucara (the Red Fortress), amphitheater of Kenko and
finally the Sacsayhuaman Fortress. Return to your hotel.
Note: Because
of the altitude in Cusco, we recommend that this tour be done privately
at your own pace, at an additional cost of $28 per person, based on two
people.

Day 7
Morning transfer
to the train station for transport through the Sacred Valley of the
Incas, up to the town of Aguas Calientes. From here, board a bus to the
mountain citadel of Machu Picchu and a guided tour of the ruins. Machu
Picchu, the Lost City of the Incas, was a flourishing ceremonial and
agricultural site, probably the gateway to the jungle marshes of the
Inca empire. The central buildings were erected with the polished stone
works of the Cuaco Imperial style, though the site is thought to have
been occupied well before the Incas started their expansion. Enjoy a
light lunch or snack and return to your hotel at your leisure. In the
evening, enjoy a wonderful dinner at the hotel or in the village of
Aguas Calientes.

Day 8
Day at leisure.
You may choose to return to Machu Picchu, hike Huayna Picchu or relax in
the village of Aguas Calientes and its hot springs. In the afternoon,
board the train to return to Cusco. Upon arrival, transfer to your
hotel.

Day 9
Transfer to the
airport for the flight to Lake Titicaca. En route to the hotel, visit
the necropolis of Sillustani (12,000 feet above sea level), the lagoon
of Umayo and the fabulous "chullpas," cylinder-shaped tombs. Transfer to
your hotel.
Note: You may also take the Andean Explorer train
from Cusco to Puno (10 hour scenic ride), although it operates only on
Monday, Wednesday and Saturday. Additional cost of $ 125 per person
applies.

Day 10
Transfer to the
port to take a boat ride over Lake Titicaca to visit the floating
islands of Uros. Afternoon, visit to the isle of Taquile, known for its
pre-Inca and Inca ruins, and Inca terraces. Afternoon, return to Puno
and overnight there.

Day 11
Transfer to the
airport for flight to Lima. Upon arrival in Lima, transfer to your
hotel.
|
|
Day 12
Early morning
transfer to the bus station for trip to Nazca. Afternoon visit to the
Cemetery Inca of Chauchilla, in the valley of the Trancas, with
subterranean tombs containing mummies in a fetal position facing east.
Overnight in Nazca.

Day 13
Morning flight
over the Nazca Lines. Transfer to Ica. Upon arrival, tour Ica, the old
and new districts, visiting the Regional Museum of Ica, the Lagoon of
Huacachina and a winery to observe the process of Pisco-making—the
typical Peruvian drink and ingredient of the famous Pisco Sour.

Day 14
Transfer to
Paracas for a cruise to the Ballesta Isles, where you will see sea
lions, penguins, and more than 60 species of sea birds. You will also
see the "Candelabra," another ancient sand design. Return to Lima by
bus.

Day 15
Depart for home,
or overlap with the add-on of your choice.
