Day 3
Morning transfer
to the airport for the flight to Cusco. Upon arrival in Cusco, transfer
to your hotel. After check in you will be transferred to San Blas square
for lunch in a lovely place with a garden called Greens. If this happens
to be a Sunday, you will be treated to their famous roasted chicken
lunch. After Lunch, take a leisurely stroll down to your hotel. You will
have a few hours to rest and acclimate. Then in the early evening, the
group will gather for some Pisco Sours before transferring to a theatre
for a live performance at Kusikay. After the show, dine at Cicciolina,
an upscale and beautiful restaurant featuring Novo Andino Cuisine.
|
Day 5
Get an early
start to see the Sacred Valley as few tourists ever do by driving
through the Sacred Valley. See magnificent mountains rise from the
valley and small villages with wonderful markets. Spend some time
walking through the hundreds of stands of handmade goods crafted by
people who have walked up to 4 hours or more to get their handicrafts to
the market. our first village, 16,000 feet in the Andeas, is called
Patabamba, where in addition to the markets you will visit a group of
women who blended the ancestral art of weaving with modern day business
ideals, forming a partnership which they run like a business with
production and revenue goals.
Heading back down
the mountain toward the town of Pisac, you will dine with the locals,
then spend the afternoon meandering through the Andean Pisac Market.
Return to hotel for a rest before going to Hacienda Huayocari for
dinner, a private residence with an impressive collection of Inca and
colonial art and artifacts, hosted by the Lambarri-Orihuelas family.
Note: Please note that this tour will need to be
modified in rainy season because the roads to the village will be
inaccessible at that time of year. Because Patabamba lies 16,000 feet
above sea level, this tour may not be suitable for people with heart
disease or other illnesses. If you are having any altitude sickness in
Cuzco you will want to tell your private guide for the day so he may
revise your itinerary to visit a small town in a lower altitude.

Day 6
Transfer to El
Huacatay for a Novoandino Cuisine cooking lesson, the latest
international culinary trend. This trend has led to the increasingly
popular ‘Novoandino’ style of fusion cuisine, first inspired by Bernardo
Roca Rey and Don Cucho la Rosa in the early ‘90s. It is no wonder that
the rest of the world is catching on, given the eclectic mix of cultures
(Spain, Africa, China and Japan) that have contributed to the history of
Peruvian food. Chef Pio Vasquez de Velazco is the owner of El Huacatay,
one of Urubamba’s best restaurants, known for its Novoandino menu. After
lunch visit Salineras (an ancient working salt mine), Maras (a
picturesque, multicolored village), and Moray (a formidable
archaeological complex).

Day 7
Morning transfer
to the Urubamba train station to board the Vistadome train to Machu
Picchu. The train leaves in the morning taking a spectacular journey
through a changing landscape while you enjoy breakfast. Pass through the
Sacred Valley and its lush fields and colorful villages in the foothills
of the Andes. From there, the journey is highlighted by wonderful views
of the mountains and the beautiful Urubamba River which runs through the
Sacred Valley. On arrival in the town of Aguas Calientes at the foot of
Machu Picchu, you will be taken by bus to the Machu Picchu Sanctuary
Lodge for lunch, which overlooks the ancient citadel. After lunch, take
a guided tour of the ruins, the Lost City of the Incas.
 |
|
Day 8
A resident
guide will pick you up at your hotel in the morning for a second visit
to the Machu Picchu ruins. Those who are more adventurous may want to do
a soft hike to Wińay
Wayna, along the last part of the Inca Trail. This fantastic site,
located on a steep ledge overlooking the Urubamba River, offers a
perfect example of Inca terrace farming. The name Wińay
Wayna means "forever young" and this complex is believed to be reserved
for ceremonies and religious water rites. Lunch at the Sanctuary Lodge.
Early evening return to Cuzco by Vistadome train. Upon arrival in Cuzco,
transfer to your hotel. This evening, dine at courtyard MAP Café in the
Museo de Arte Precolombino. MAP café treats visitors to a mix of pre-columbian
art and fine cuisine. The integrative cuisine has a blend of Modern and
Andean tastes. |
